National Voters Day 2018

The National Voters Day 2018 was organized in South Goa District on 25/01/2018 at the Parade ground of Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Collectorate South Goa, Margao. The objective of the function is to encourage awareness about electoral process and practices to achieve aims of ethical voting and maximisation of voter turnout. The theme of NVD 2018 is “Accessible Election” to enable bringing forth hitherto section of the citizen who have stayed out of political participation due to inaccessibility of various kinds.

The District Election Office South Goa proudly share that ERO Shri Paresh Faldesai, for AC 21-Ponda and 31-Margao has been facilitated at the hands of the President of India today for extending right to vote to wanaremare tribe at Ponda, for the first time.

At the District level function at Margao Shri Agnelo A.J Fernandes presided over the same. Colonel Manjit Singh Niranjan, ,a Service Personnel r/o Santa Cruz, Panjim was the Chief guest of the function and Shri Agnelo Fernandes Chief Officer of Mormugao Municipal Council was the special invitee.

Two ERO’s/AEROs each and 42 BLOs were felicitated for their distinguished work at the function. The function also saw participation of 145 students among others. A pledge towards free and fair elections was administered to all. Twelve newly enrolled voters and three Millennium Voters i.e those who were born on 01/01/2000 were felicitated and EPIC was distributed. The function was marked by poster making competition, Slogan competition, and skit competition. Colouring materials, drawing sheets and caps were given to the participants. Students showed great enthusiasm and high degree of participation.
